Welcome & Thankyou for thinking about joining the Australian Guild of Music Education.
Thank you for visiting our new website. Here at the AGME we always strive to offer the very best in education and public examinations. Formed in 1969 as a follow on from the London College of Music which is now a major part of the University of West London. The Guild Founder was Gordon Blake who was the LCM representative in Australia for many years, which was responsible for the creation and development of both bodies in Australia as he was the foundation President of the Guild when LCM ceased operations in the colonies. Since 1969 the Guild have gone from strength to strength. The Guild own their Faculty of Music in the prestigious suburb of Kooyong (Melbourne ) Australia and also has locations in 7 countries worldwide and is the only examining body operating in Australia that can offer a complete music education program covering Public Music Examinations from beginning step levels through all grades in to professional Diplomas of Associate, Licentiate and Fellowship. Our tertiary and higher education courses are accredited by ASQA and TEQSA. The Guild can offer Certificate courses II, III + IV level as well as Diploma and Advanced Diploma music industry courses. In Higher Education a Bachelor of Music degree is available and offers Higher Education Fee Help, this is a commonwealth student assistance loan that allows students to repay upon conclusion of their course.
The Guild has been innovative at all levels, students can receive advance standing on completion of lower level courses. For example teachers or students holding the Guild Associate and Licentiate are eligible for advanced standing in our degree program.
The Guild pioneered music examinations by video allowing Distance students to achieve music examinations in their own area. This program was further developed to include all Guild programs and Distance students can now receive their degree by Distance Education via E-Learning resources.
Guild awards are presented at the Melbourne University Hawthorn Campus, Victoria at the Guild Annual Graduation Ceremony in April each year.
Our website can only offer you a glimpse on what we offer here at the Australian Guild of Music Education so we would like to invite you to visit or contact us if you have any further questions that can’t be answered on this website. We look forward to hearing or seeing you in the future.
