the Guild offers FULLY ONLINE Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificates with subsidised fees

Course Information

Students can commence studies with a:

  • Certificate II in Music Industry (CUA20615)

and more advanced students can enter directly into the

  • Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance) (CUA30915)

 

These courses can provide credit in VCE or VCAL qualifications for secondary students and are a pathway into the Bachelor of Music Degree.

The Guild’s VET courses are all available completely online and can be studied at your own pace, using our LIVE-Online model of recorded lectures and ongoing tutorials with teachers.

 

Our rates are subsidised to make these courses a cost effective choice for schools. 

Certificates II and III are available to study commencing February 2021.

Pathways

Completion of Certificate II in Music Industry allows progression to Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance).

 

From there, students may continue to study through Certificate IV and Diploma in Music Industry, or further their studies in the Guild’s Bachelor of Music program.

VCE & VCAL Credit

Certificate II in Music Industry can provide recognition for up to four units of credit at VCE or VCAL Units 1 and 2.

Certificate III in Music Industry can provide recognition for two units at Unit 1 and 2, and at least one Units 3 and 3 sequence in VCE or VCAL.

Further credit may be eligible at Units 3 and 4 Level through scored assessments.

Eligibility & Entry Requirements

Students must have a completed Year 8 as a minimum for entry into a Certificate II program and have the prerequisite instrumental experience.

Public Instrumental Examinations are recognised as prior experience prerequisites.

Certificate II in Music Industry (CUA20615)

Certificate II in Music Industry (CUA20615) introduces students looking to explore career options in the music industry to practical musical performance, production and cultural tools. 

Students will build strong foundational skills in music industry areas, including:

  • Solo and ensemble musical performance

  • Listening and reading notation

  • Sound editing

  • Working safely with equipment

  • Developing knowledge of the music industry

Music Performance

  • Develop ensemble skills to perform simple musical parts (CUAMPF102)

  • Play or sing music from simple written notation (CUAMPF204)

Music Literacy

  • Develop and apply musical ideas listening skills (CUAMLT201)

  • Apply knowledge of music culture to music making (CUAMLT202)

Sound Production

  • Perform basic sound editing (CUASOU202)

Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance) (CUA30915)

Certificate III in Music Industry (CUA30915) builds on skills gained in Certificate II to enhance music performance abilities in solo and group scenarios, as well developing a greater understanding of the music industry and tools required, including composition and production.

Areas covered include:

  • Developing practical skills for solo and ensemble performance

  • Aural and music listening

  • Composition of simple musical pieces

  • Recording and editing audio

  • Live sound requirements for performances

  • Music business and copyright requirements
