I am a 15 year old musician from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, who likes to spend time writing songs and playing instruments, particularly the piano. I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old and have been songwriting since I was 13, and I have been involved in the Music Production and Songwriting program at my school (Peninsula Grammar) since 2018. I feel that music is always something that I can further my creative boundaries with. During the lockdown this year I have been able to work on music with people remotely, furthering my collaboration skills.
Piano is a very big part of my musical background thus the instrument was incorporated into the introduction of this song and all throughout. Various synths were included to give the song an 80's feel, which are prominent in the chorus, accompanying the piano sound and adding a catchy melodic touch in the listener's head. ‘Dead Weight’ takes inspiration from sounds of artists like Amy Shark and Shura.
