I am a 15 year old musician from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, who likes to spend time writing songs and playing instruments, particularly the piano. I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old and have been songwriting since I was 13, and I have been involved in the Music Production and Songwriting program at my school (Peninsula Grammar) since 2018. I feel that music is always something that I can further my creative boundaries with. During the lockdown this year I have been able to work on music with people remotely, furthering my collaboration skills.
Similar to Dead Weight, this song also incorporates piano sounds in the background of this song, and catchy ‘tinkly’ melodies in the chorus to keep the listener hooked throughout. ‘Empty Spaces’ has a more electronic feel to it and includes a strong foundation of bass, as well as powerful drums, in the chorus. These elements move the song forward and further express the relatable emotion and message of anxiety that influenced me when I first wrote the song.
