Michael de Huy
homage
I'm a 17 y.o composer, improviser and pianist. I really love cooking and fermenting as hobbies other than music, as well as having a general love for many forms of art, especially visual. I also really enjoy studying literature. Huge love for discussing my interests with other likeminded people, and I really want there to be more free improvisation in the world!
An emotionally charged composition, "homage" pays reverence to the school choir I miss so much in this hard time. I aimed to create a sacred atmosphere using the textures generated by the fake choir by adjusting note velocity, reverb, and EQ levels. Finally, through using Eric Whitacre inspired 'tension chords' through semitone clashes, I hope the result of this work yearns harmonically as much as I did when entering the creative space to conceive it.
