Of Those To Remember
My name is Huxley, Im 14 years old and I go to Fitzroy High.
Im a Percussionist primarily but I also produce a wide range of music. In most of the pieces I produce I compose and create all the percussion parts in my home studio and I play all the non-percussion parts with a midi keyboard but I have received no formal teaching in this area.
Music has been a major part of my life for many years but over the last 2-3 years it has become more than a hobby. Ive never properly released any of my music other than playing live performances.
For this piece I stuck with the mindset of doing everything in one take once I found an idea that I liked and worked around that. I believe that if you try to replicate an idea over and over it loses its creative touch and feeling that brings life to a piece of music. I took inspiration from artists such as "The Flight" and Jesper Kyd as they generally do soundtracks for video games and movies and some of the pieces they make are these epic walls of sound that have such life within them.
The melodies I have created for this pieces are not complex but i think thats what makes them have an Impact. As someone who is predominately a percussionist, I made the percussion parts have these pulsating rhythms that have almost a marching feel. I attempted to create the imagery of a battle or an endeavour much like scenes you would find in movies such as the lord of the rings or similar genres
