The third line of the chorus resolves to a major chord, which gives the song a feeling of movement that I wasn’t able to achieve when I kept it minor. The off-beat strumming build up leading into the chorus creates a sense of anticipation for the song title line “I see clearly now”. I decided to end each chorus with a positive scat line as it felt a bit heavy without it. I also emphasised the chord strum on the first beat of the second and fifth line of the pre-chorus to spotlight the important lyric “I don’t know why”.
