How to Apply

This page describes the 4 steps to apply as a Student at AGE

Step 1: Determine your eligibility

Read the Entrance Requirements HERE and then answer the following questions for yourself.

If you’re aged 18 - 20 ask yourself these questions:

  • Have I successfully completed a high school certificate?

  • Do I have the English language requirements for this kind of study?

  • Do I have the music requirements in an instrument and music theory?  (If you don’t have “formal”  requirements but think you could pass them - then remember that you can request an assessment that we will provide)

If you’re aged 21 of over, ask yourself these questions:

  • Have I successfully completed a high school certificate? OR can I meet the requirements under the terms for Special Consideration?

  • Do I have the English language requirements for this kind of study?

  • Do I have the music requirements in an instrument and music theory?  (If you don’t have “formal”  requirements but think you could pass them - then remember that you can request an assessment that we will provide)

If you were able to answer YES to all of these questions, then proceed to Step 2.

If you answered NO, but would like to work towards doing a Bachelor of Music degree, fill in the enquiry form and someone will contact you about steps to take to become eligible

Step 2: Gather Your Information

1. Gather the Documents

You will need to supply documents such as:

  • An Identification Document like a passport, ID Card or Birth Certificate

  • Your High School Certificate and similar records

  • Formal music qualifications such as a Grade 5 from Trinity College London in Music Theory or any other OFQUAL or recognised provider

OR,
  • if you don’t have”formal” qualifications, email support@guildmusic.edu.au  to request the theory assessment and submit that with your application.

For International Students, remember that you will also need to pass an IELTS or similar English Language Test.

2. Gather your Audition Materials
  • Record 6 - 9 minutes of you playing your instrument or demonstrating your compositions.  This recording can be done on your phone.  It doesn’t need to be a professional recording, just something that shows us how you play.

  • Composition students should also provide a portfolio or explanation of why they want to compose music.

Step 3: Complete your application

  1. Fill in the Application Form

    • International Students should fill in the Online Enquiry Form and we will send you a link to an online application.  You may also download the International Application Form here and submit the completed form with your documents to Support (Australian Guild of Music)

    • Domestic Students should apply here through the Domestic Student Online Application

  2. Attach the documents

  3. Check everything once more just to be sure

  4. Submit the application

Step 4: Apply for RPL

If you think that you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), (e.g. you have already completed some tertiary music studies), then you can supply that information via the RPL Application Form
